The IGCS was sorry to learn of the death of Prof. Daniel Dargent on May 12, 2005. Prof.
Dargent, a member of the IGCS for over 15 years, was a pioneer in the development of
minimally-invasive surgery in gynecologic cancer. He was a beloved mentor and teacher for many gynecologic oncologists. In 2004, he was the recipient of the BMS/IGCS Award for Excellence in Gynecologic Oncology at the 9th Biennial Meeting of the IGCS in Seoul, Korea. IGCS members who wish to convey their condolences to his widow, Madame Brigitte Dargent, should send them to:

To honor the many contributions of Prof. Dargent, the IGCS plans to institute a memorial lecture on gynecologic cancer surgery at future Biennial Meetings. We welcome contributions to endow this lectureship in Prof. Dargent's memory. Contributions should be sent to:
